Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Sacrifice Is a Timeless Message for Humanity: Mohan Bhagwat

350th Martyrdom Day Commemorated at Gurdwara Brahmakund, Ayodhya

Ayodhya/Lucknow: The 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur—revered as the Hind Di Chadar for his supreme sacrifice—was solemnly observed at Gurdwara Brahmakund in Ayodhya. RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat paid obeisance at the shrine, recalling the Guru’s unparalleled courage and sacrifice in the defense of dharma, human rights, and universal values.

Addressing members of the Sikh community and devotees gathered at the gurdwara, Dr. Bhagwat said that Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom is a guiding message for all of humanity.
“Sanatan Dharma stands on the pillars of sacrifice and selflessness,” he said. “Guru Maharaj showed not only through words but through his life how one must stand for righteousness and protect the oppressed. His sacrifice ensured that dharma survived even in times when its very existence was threatened.”

He added that societies evolve gradually, but the Guru’s teachings continue to inspire generations. “If someone feeds us, we feel grateful. But if someone enlightens us on how to live our life, society remains indebted to them for eternity,” he said, calling his visit to the historic gurdwara a blessing.

During the ceremony, Gurdwara Brahmakund’s head granthi Giani Gurjit Singh Khalsa honoured Dr. Bhagwat with a traditional saroopa. Giani Gurjit Singh remarked that the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has fulfilled a long-standing dream of Sanatan devotees across the world.

He also highlighted the historical significance of Gurdwara Brahmakund, noting that Guru Nanak Dev, Guru Tegh Bahadur, and Guru Gobind Singh had all visited the sacred site. The event featured shabad kirtan, followed by distribution of kada prasad.

Several prominent saints and dignitaries graced the occasion, including 52 Peethadhishwar Mahant Vaidehi Ballabh Sharan. Senior RSS leaders such as Swantaranjan, Indresh, Prem Kumar, Eastern UP Kshetra Pracharak Anil, and Kshetra Prachar Pramukh Subhash were present. Dr. Ashok Dubey, Akhilesh, Prant Pracharak Kaushal, and Ram Janmabhoomi secretary Champat Rai also attended the programme.

From the Sikh community, Mahant Baljit Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Maninder Singh, Gurbinder Singh, Manish Vasnathani, Gurbir Singh Sodhi, and Sunita Shastri were among those present, marking the day with reverence and unity.
